Softball delivered a dominant performance Monday, rolling to an 11-0 victory over Midview in five innings at home.
The Comets’ offense erupted for three home runs on the day, highlighted by a game-ending three-run blast from Morgan Lymer in the bottom of the fifth. Briana Blankenship got the power surge started with a three-run homer in the second inning, and Makenna Dorobek followed later in the inning with a two-run shot to extend the lead to 7-0.
Amherst wasted no time getting on the board in the first. Dorobek doubled to drive in Blankenship, and Karina Shuster followed with an RBI single to score Dorobek for an early 2-0 advantage.
Dorobek continued her big day at the plate in the fifth, doubling home Leah Sprague to make it 8-0 before Lymer’s walk-off home run sealed the run-rule win.
In the circle, Shuster was outstanding, allowing just one hit over five innings while striking out nine.
