Baseball Beats Medina 3-1

Baseball picked up a strong non-conference home win Monday afternoon, defeating Medina 3-1.

The Comets wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Landon Wolf blasted a two-run home run that scored Nick Wilkinson to give Amherst an early 2-0 advantage.

Amherst added another run in the second inning as Cole Marquez brought home Zach Diedrick with a sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 3-0.

Medina scored its lone run in the top of the fourth inning, but Amherst’s pitching staff shut the door the rest of the way to secure the victory.

Cael Charles earned the win after throwing two scoreless innings. Jeremy Stepp, Brody Glick, and Zach Diedrick each added an inning of work on the mound, while Harrison Schneider picked up the save by tossing the final two innings.
