Baseball delivered a complete team performance on Saturday, shutting out Solon 9-0 at home.
The Comets got on the board early. In the bottom of the first inning, Landon Wolf drove in Cole Charles with a single to centerfield. Comets added three more runs in the second inning. Eli Toyoda scored on a passed ball, Cole Marquez brought home Zaiden Rosario on a groundout, and a perfectly executed double steal with Tyler Denn swiping home while Cole Charles advanced to second.
The Comets continued to build its lead in the third as Zander Hopkins doubled to score Rosario, making it 5-0. In the fifth inning, Gavin Ford drew a bases-loaded walk, plating Harrison Schneider, followed by a sacrifice fly from Marquez to score Toyoda.
The Comets capped the scoring in the sixth inning. Zaiden Rosario singled home Cooper Bingham, and Gavin Ford scored Nick Wilkinson on a single to secure the 9-0 win.
On the mound, Cael Charles earned his second win of the season, working the first two innings. Jeremy Stepp, Zander Hopkins, Cole Charles, Spencer Cain, and Brody Glick each contributed an inning in relief to complete the shutout effort.
