Baseball Defeats Berea-Midpark

Baseball put together a complete performance on Thursday, earning an 11-0 shutout victory over Berea-Midpark in six innings.
The Comets opened the scoring in the second inning when Cole Marquez singled home Zach Diedrick to take a 1-0 lead. Amherst added to its advantage in the third, as Harrison Schneider doubled to bring home Bingham, followed by an Eli Toyoda sacrifice fly that scored Schneider to make it 3-0.
The Comets continued to build its lead in the fourth when Nick Wilkinson crossed the plate on a wild pitch. In the fifth, Wilkinson delivered an RBI double down the left field line to score Diedrick, extending the lead to 5-0.
The Comets broke the game open in the sixth inning. Cole Charles launched an inning leadoff solo home run to right field, while Schneider added an RBI single to score Bingham. A wild pitch brought Landon Wolf home, and Tyler Denn capped the inning with a bases-clearing triple to center field, scoring Schneider, Diedrick, and Wilkinson to make it 11-0.
On the mound, Harrison Schneider tossed five shutout innings while striking out seven to earn the win.
