Baseball delivered a dominant performance on Thursday at Elyria Catholic High School, defeating Elyria Catholic 19-0.
On the mound, Harrison Schneider earned the win after tossing three strong innings, while Zach Deidrick closed out the final two innings, striking out four. The duo combined to allow just one hit in the shutout effort.
The Comets wasted no time getting on the board. In the top of the first inning, Zaiden Rosario sparked the offense with a bases-clearing double to left field, scoring Landon Wolf, Harrison Schneider, and Zach Deidrick as Amherst jumped out to a commanding early lead and went up 8-0 after one inning.
Amherst continued to build momentum in the third inning when Harrison Schneider launched a two-run home run to left field, scoring Cooper Bingham and extending the lead to 10-0.
The Comets put the game out of reach in the fourth inning, erupting for nine runs. Zaiden Rosario highlighted the inning with his second double of the game, driving in Cole Charles and Nick Wilkinson to cap off the scoring and secure the 19-0 victory. Rosario finished the game with five RBIs to lead the Comets’ offensive effort.
