Baseball rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Riverside 5-2 on Sunday at the Classic Auto Group Park in the Lake County Captains Charity Classic.
The Comets got on the board in the second inning when Zaiden Rosario singled home Landon Wolf to cut the deficit to 2-1. Amherst tied the game in the third after Wolf doubled to score Nick Wilkinson. Harrison Schneider then gave the Comets the lead with a sacrifice fly that plated Cooper Bingham, before Zach Deidrick added another sacrifice fly to bring home Wolf for a 4-2 advantage.
Amherst added an insurance run in the fourth inning when Deidrick singled home Cole Marquez to extend the lead to 5-2.
Six Amherst pitchers combined to cover all seven innings on the mound. Brody Glick earned the win, while Cael Charles picked up the save to secure the victory for the Comets.
