Baseball Earns SWC Win over Olmsted Falls

Baseball erupted for nine runs over the second and third innings to secure an 11-1 victory over Olmsted Falls on Monday.

After Olmsted Falls took a 1-0 lead in the first, the Comets responded in a big way in the bottom of the second. Zaiden Rosario reached base, allowing Eli Toyoda to score on an errant throw to tie the game. Cooper Bingham followed with an RBI single to plate Rosario and Cole Marquez, giving Amherst a 3-1 advantage.

The inning continued as Harrison Schneider singled home Co. Charles and Bingham, and Zach Deidrick capped the frame with a two-run double to score Landon Wolf and Schneider, pushing the lead to 7-1.

Comets added four more runs in the third. Bingham delivered again with an infield single to score Marquez and Co. Charles, and Schneider brought home Bingham and Wolf with a two-run double to extend the lead to 11-1.

On the mound, Cael Charles earned the win, tossing four innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. Brody Glick worked a scoreless fifth inning to close out the victory.
