Baseball Wins 8-0 over Midview

Baseball shut out Midview 8-0 behind Cael Charles. Charles earned the win after tossing five scoreless innings while striking out 10, allowing 1 hit. Jeremy Stepp and Christian Vorhees closed out the final two innings to complete the shutout.

The Comets opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Harrison Schneider singled home Cooper Bingham for a 1-0 lead.

Amherst broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning. Schneider delivered another RBI single to score Bingham before Eli Toyoda and Tyler Denn each drew bases-loaded walks to extend the lead. Gavin Ford added a sacrifice fly that brought home Zach Diedrick, and Bingham capped the inning with a two-run double to score Toyoda and Denn, making it 7-0.

In the sixth inning, Zander Hopkins scored on a balk to push the Comets’ lead to 8-0.
