Baseball delivered a dominant performance on Monday, rolling to an 18-3 win on the road at Elyria.
The highlight of the night came in the fourth inning when Landon Wolf etched his name in the record books. Wolf drove in Cooper Bingham with a single to record his 83rd career RBI, setting a new school record. He surpasses Matt Kallister, who previously held the mark with 82 RBIs, a record that stood since 2001.
On the mound, Cael Charles improved to 4-0 on the season, tossing a five-inning complete game in the run-rule victory.
Offensively, the Comets were firing on all cylinders. Cooper Bingham reached base in all his at-bats, going 2-for-2 along with 2 walks while scoring four runs. Eli Toyoda finished 2-for-4 and led the team with three RBIs. Zach Diedrick and Zander Hopkins also contributed with two hits apiece.
Amherst returns home on Tuesday, April 21st for a rematch with Elyria. The game will also serve as Youth Night, with Amherst youth baseball players invited to participate in pregame introductions. Players should meet the coaching staff at the fence near first base at 4:30 p.m.
