Boys and Girls Swimming Earn Fourth-Place Finishes at SWC Championships

Boys and Girls swimming teams each placed fourth Saturday at the Southwestern Conference Championships, held at Oberlin College.
The Comets were consistent across relays and individual events, highlighted by multiple podium finishes on the boys side and key relay performances from the girls.
Comet Boys opened the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200 medley relay, as Colin Reitzel, Ethan Fantozz, Declan Mackowski, and Reed Homolya combined for a second-place result. The boys continued to record solid finishes throughout the day, led by Fantozz’s second-place showing in the 500 freestyle and Mackowski’s runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly. Reitzel added a pair of podium performances, placing third in the 100 freestyle and second in the 100 backstroke, while Fantozz placed fourth in the 200 IM. The Comets capped the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with Homolya, Reitzel, Fantozz, and Mackowski.
The Girls delivered a strong relay-focused effort, led by a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle relay from Sophie Millard, Erin Reitzel, Abbey McConihe, and Bridget Sonntag. The Comets followed with a third-place showing in the 400 freestyle relay as Millard, McConihe, Sonntag, and Reitzel closed the meet on the podium. The ladies, Millard, Reitzel, Sonntag, and McConihe, opened the championship with a fifth-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
Individually, McConihe placed sixth in the 200 IM, Sonntag earned fifth in the 500 freestyle, Millard finished fifth in the 100 backstroke, and Reitzel added a fifth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.
