Boys Basketball: Amherst Pulls Away From Midview for 81-66 Home Win

Boys Basketball erased an eight-point halftime deficit and used a strong second half to pull away for an 81-66 home win over Midview on Friday night at Amherst Steele High School.
The Comets led 20-16 after the first quarter, but Midview responded with a 18-6 run in the second period to take a 34-26 advantage into halftime. Amherst regrouped after the break, outscoring the Middies 22-8 in the third quarter to regain control and carry a 48-42 lead into the final eight minutes.
Amherst continued to build its lead in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on defensive stops and efficient scoring to seal the 15-point victory.
Jack Coleman led the Comets with a team-high 26 points, while Cole Scanlon added 15 points in the balanced scoring effort. Midview was paced by Luke Jockel, who finished with 30 points.
With the win, Amherst moves forward to its next contest on Sunday, traveling to North Canton Hoover for a 2 p.m. tipoff as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Classic hosted by North Canton Hoover.
