Boys Basketball beats Avon Lake 79-71

Boys Basketball controlled the pace throughout Friday night and held off a late push to secure a 79–71 home victory over Avon Lake.
The Comets set the tone early, jumping out to a 20–17 lead at the end of the first quarter behind balanced scoring and strong ball movement. Amherst continued to build momentum in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 42–34 by halftime.
After the break, Amherst maintained its composure and extended the advantage to 56–48 by the end of the third quarter. The Comets continued to execute offensively in the final period.
Andrew Balicki led Amherst with 14 points, while Gavin Beckler added 13 and Jack Coleman chipped in 12 to give the Comets three players in double figures. Avon Lake was paced by Ezra Jones, who finished with a game-high 22 points.
