Boys Basketball beats Avon Lake in Overtime

Boys basketball earned a hard-fought 72–69 overtime victory on the road at Avon Lake Tuesday night.
The teams traded leads throughout the contest, with Avon Lake holding a slim 14–13 advantage after the first quarter before Amherst took a 31–25 lead into halftime. The Comets continued to control the pace in the third quarter, leading 45–43 heading into the final period.
Avon Lake connected on a three-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime, tying the game at 62–62 at the end of regulation. Amherst responded in the extra session, outscoring the Shoremen 10–7 to secure the win.
Jack Coleman led the Comets with 24 points, while Mason Lymer added 20 points and David Dudziak chipped in 12.
Amherst returns to the floor Friday night when they host Olmsted Falls.
