Boys Basketball Pulls Away to Defeat Lakewood, Advance to District Championship

Boys Basketball advanced to the OHSAA Division II District Championship with a 53-37 victory over Lakewood on Tuesday night in a district semifinal matchup.

The Comets jumped out to an early lead, taking a 14-8 advantage after the first quarter and holding a 23-18 edge at halftime. Amherst continued to control the game in the second half, leading 34-30 after three quarters before pulling away in the fourth to secure the win.

Jack Coleman led the Comets with 16 points, followed by Mason Lymer with 12 points and Andrew Balicki with 10 points.

With the win, Amherst advances to face North Royalton, who defeated Warren Harding 54-33 in the other district semifinal.

The OHSAA Division II District Championship game will be played Saturday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at Valley Forge High School.
