Boys Bowling Has Strong Showing at Padua Bruin Classic

Boys bowling team delivered a strong all-around performance Sunday at the Padua Bruin Classic, earning the top seed heading into match play before seeing its tournament run end in the semifinals.
The Comets totaled 3,870 pins during qualifying to secure the No. 1 seed. Garrett Smith led the way with a 690 series, rolling games of 257, 206, and 227 to finish with the fifth-highest individual series in the tournament. Brady Smith followed closely with a 684 series of 215, 236, and 233, good for sixth overall. Ethan Burich added a 614 series with games of 184, 267, and 163, while Grant Taylor contributed a 573 series on scores of 164, 189, and 220. Trenton Roberts rolled games of 246 and 124, and Zaden Watkins posted a 243. Amherst also posted strong baker games of 255, 216, and 225 during qualifying.
In the quarterfinals, Amherst faced Solon in a best-of-three baker format. The Comets advanced with baker scores of 197 and 167, topping Solon’s 177 and 139 to move on to the semifinals.
Amherst’s tournament came to an end in the semifinals against host Padua. The Comets posted baker games of 202, 242, and 200, but Padua responded with scores of 166, 267, and 220 to claim the match and advance to the finals.
Despite the semifinal loss, Amherst’s top-seeded finish and multiple high individual series highlighted a successful showing at the Padua Bruin Classic.
