Boys Cross Country Qualifies 5 to OHSAA Regionals

The Amherst Steele Boys Cross Country team had a memorable showing at the OHSAA District Championships by qualifying its top five runners to the OHSAA Regional Championships.
The Comets earned their advancement through a determined performance where 141 runners competed on the LCCC course.
Leading the way for the Comets was senior captain Asa Nicely, who placed 19th overall with a time of 17:47.15. Sophomore Cale Miller followed with a solid run of 18:27.50, earning 47th place, while sophomore Elias Nicely finished close behind in 83rd place with a time of 19:08.98. Two freshmen rounded out the group of regional qualifiers — Jackson Strawn clocked 19:12.40 for 88th place, and Carter Banyas crossed the line in 19:14.39, taking 90th place.
Also representing the Comets at the District meet were senior Matthew Walker (19:54.55, 110th) and sophomore Nolan Cislo (20:18.81, 115th).
The Comets will now shift their focus to Boardman High School, where they will compete for a chance to advance to the OHSAA State Championships.
