The Amherst Steele varsity soccer team picked up its ninth win of the season, rolling to a 8-1 victory on Senior Night over Lorain.

Kameron Kadow started off the scoring for the Comets when he gathered a long ball and beat three defenders before launching a perfect shot past the diving goalkeeper.

Minutes later, Bryce Reed nearly scored his first varsity goal when he took a cross from Ben Thompson and fired a shot off the post. The post also denied Kadow a second goal, as well, allowing the Titans to hang around in the early going.

Teagan Debronsky extended the Comets lead to two when he received a pass from Gavin Beckler, beat a defender with a spin move, and launched a shot that curled into the back of the net.

Cristiano Reyes scored shortly before the half on a brilliant low shot to the far post off an assist from Reed and the Comets went into halftime with a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Lorain increased the pressure in the second half and would eventually find the net on a breakaway, but the second half belonged to the Comets offense.

Noah Clinton scored off a header following a tremendous through ball from Matthew Hammond. Then Reed would finally find the net, securing his first varsity goal as he drilled a low, hard shot from point blank range.

Ben Thompson added to the assault when Ty Pinto sent a through ball to create a one v. one for the speedy forward. Thompson dribbled around the goalkeeper and deposited a nice finish to increase the lead. Clinton added the cherry on top with a late goal off of Ryan Sutton's first varsity assist to send the fans home happy.

Casey Giancaterino made four saves to earn the win in goal and the Amherst defense was solid all night.

Thank you to seniors Noah Clinton, Casey Giancaterino, Kameron Kadow, Ty Pinto, Bryce Reed, Ryan Sutton, and Ben Thompson for their contributions to the Amherst Steele soccer program. Congrats to all!
