The Amherst Steele boys soccer team picked up its tenth win of the season, outlasting  Midview 4-2.
The Comets didn't wait long to get on the board, scoring in the second minute when a Matthew Hammond cross found Kameron Kadow, who beat a defender and drilled a shot past the helpless goalkeeper from point blank range.
After Midview tied it up, Hammond struck again. After a foul by Midview, Hammond lined up for a free kick and bent a perfect strike around the wall to give the Comets a lead they would never relinquish.
Shortly after halftime, Hammond found Ben Thompson with a deadly through ball. Thompson fought off two defenders to create a one v. one with the goalkeeper, beating him with a hard shot to the far post to extend the lead to 3-1.
Landon Boone would put the finishing touches on the win with a near-post header off a brilliant Jaxon Perez cross.
Casey Giancaterino had a tremendous game in the net, coming off his line several times to win loose balls and making six key saves. The Comet defense was led by Gavin Beckler, Carter Boone, Gavin Ford, and Evan Ferancy.
Amherst Steele moves to 10-4-2 on the season and finishes in the top half of the SWC with a 3-3-1 record. The Comets host Vermilion on Saturday in their regular season finale.
