Boys Tennis Finishes 3rd at SWC Tournament

Boys Tennis turned in a strong performance at the Southwestern Conference Championships, finishing 3rd overall across competition held Saturday, with finals concluding Monday and Tuesday at Avon High School.
The Comets were led by an impressive showing in singles play, where all three competitors advanced to the championship matches and earned runner-up finishes.
At 1st Singles, Katelyn Bussard battled through a competitive bracket, defeating Midview’s Ryan Quinn in the quarterfinals and Elyria’s Ty Zigon in the semifinals before finishing as runner-up to Avon’s Aarav Kishorepuria in the finals.
Marie Schneider delivered a strong run at 2nd Singles, earning wins over Midview’s Evan Kneisel in the quarterfinals and Avon Lake’s Caleb Johnson in the semifinals. She ultimately finished runner-up after falling to Avon’s Blake Netschke in the championship match.
At 3rd Singles, Josh Tomlin advanced to the finals with victories over Midview’s Thomas Workman in the quarterfinals and Olmsted Falls’ Olin Pandya in the semifinals. He placed runner-up after a hard-fought finals match against Avon’s Ashton Schwanger.
In doubles action, the 1st Doubles team of Garet Bott and Carter Crawford placed 5th to round out Amherst’s scoring effort.
