Boys Volleyball Heads to Sweet 16

Boys Volleyball team punched its ticket to the OHSAA Sweet 16 on Thursday night with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Warren Howland in Regional Quarterfinal action.

The Comets battled all night earning a hard-fought five-set win to improve to 17-7 on the season.

Gavin Beckler led the offensive attack with 38 kills, while James Ludwig added 15 kills and Mason Lymer chipped in 8. Joe Penano dished out 27 assists and added a team-high 8 aces, while Hector Mendez contributed 24 assists.

Defensively, Ludwig recorded 26 digs, Beckler finished with 21, and Lymer added 19. Lymer also led the team with 22 serve receptions, followed by Beckler with 20 and Ludwig with 18. At the net, Beckler totaled 6 blocks, while Evan Thomson, Lymer, and Ludwig each recorded 3.

The Comets will now advance to the Regional Semifinals on Tuesday, May 19, against Holland Springfield at 7p.
