Boys Volleyball opened their season in strong fashion with a 3–1 win over Strongsville, showing depth and control across all phases of the game.
James Ludwig led the charge with an all-around standout performance, recording 17 kills, 6 aces, 8 digs, and 22 serve receptions. He was supported offensively by Gavin Beckler (7 kills) and Mason Lymer (6 kills), giving the Comets a consistent attacking presence.
At the net, Trey Nida paced the defense with 2 block kills, while Ludwig and Beckler each added one. The Comets’ back-row defense was just as impressive, led by Hector Mendez with 17 digs and 3 aces, along with Lymer’s 15 digs and Ludwig’s 8.
Amherst’s offense was efficiently run by Joe Penano (23 assists) and Jaxon Yoder (9 assists), helping distribute the ball effectively. From the service line, the Comets applied constant pressure, with Ludwig’s 6 aces leading the way, while Mendez added 3, and Niko Dokovski, Penano, and Zach Boesken each chipped in 2.
With strong performances across hitting, defense, and serving, Amherst’s balanced effort powered them to a confident 3–1 victory—an impressive start to the season for the Comets!
