Boys Volleyball Wins 5 Set Thriller over Northview

Boys Volleyball battled its way to an exciting five-set victory over Sylvania Northview, winning 3-2 in a match filled with momentum swings and clutch performances.
After dropping the opening set 21-25, Amherst responded with back-to-back wins (25-19, 25-22) to take control of the match. Northview answered in the fourth set, 25-18, forcing a deciding fifth set. The Comets rose to the occasion, closing out the match with a 15-11 victory.
James Ludwig and Gavin Beckler led the offensive attack, finishing with 18 and 17 kills, respectively, while Niko Dokovski added 9 kills. Joe Penano orchestrated the offense with 33 assists, and Hector Mendez contributed 19 assists.
Defensively, Ludwig recorded 19 digs, while Mason Lymer and Beckler each added 17. Penano chipped in 14 digs. In serve receive, Beckler (25), Lymer (24), and Ludwig (21) provided steady passing throughout the match.
At the net, Beckler led the way with 4 blocks, while Evan Thomson and Lymer each contributed 2. From the service line, Beckler tallied 6 aces, Ludwig added 3, and Zach Boesken recorded 2.
With the win, Amherst improves to 13-6 on the season. The Comets will return to action on May 5 as they travel to Avon Lake.
