Comet Wrestlers Win Mentor Duals

Wrestling went a perfect 5-0 on the day to win the Mentor Duals this past Saturday at Mentor High School.

The Comets opened the tournament with an 84-0 shutout of Bedford, followed by a 68-12 victory over Euclid. Amherst then defeated host Mentor 45-24, edged Madison 41-36 in a tightly contested dual, and closed the day with a 49-24 win over Jackson to secure the team title.

Individual highlights included undefeated performances from Jax Percival (106), Chase Chandler (126), Cristian Nieves (132), Canin Fritz (138), and Mathew Vidovich (144). Isaac Vasquez (175) and Javiaun Bush (285) each turned in strong 4-1 records on the day.

The Comets return to the mat on Tuesday, December 17, when they travel to Avon Lake for a 6:30 p.m. dual.
