Comets Defeat Olmsted Falls for Homecoming Victory

Amherst delivered a memorable Homecoming performance Friday night, defeating Olmsted Falls 20-16 at Spitzer Autoworld Stadium.

After falling behind early, the Comets seized momentum in the second quarter when Cy Christensen connected with Cael Charles on a 59-yard touchdown strike. Jack Coleman’s extra point gave Amherst a 7-3 lead. Later in the half, Christensen found David Dudziak from 12 yards out, sending the Comets into halftime ahead 13-10.

Amherst extended its advantage in the third quarter when Christensen powered into the end zone on a 1-yard run. Coleman’s kick pushed the lead to 20-10 with 4:53 remaining in the quarter.

Olmsted Falls battled back in the fourth, trimming the deficit to four, but the Comets’ defense delivered in the final moments. With the Bulldogs threatening inside the Amherst 5-yard line as time expired, the defense stood tall to preserve the win.

The victory evens Amherst’s record at 3-3 on the season. The Comets return to action next Friday with a road matchup at Elyria, kickoff set for 7 p.m.
