Girls Basketball Opens Season with 49–48 Victory Over Bay

The Amherst Comets opened their season in dramatic fashion, edging Bay 49–48 in an exciting game on their home court to open the 2025-26 season.
With the Comets clinging to a 48–46 lead in the closing seconds, Amalee Caldera stepped to the line and knocked down one of two free throws with 14.5 seconds remaining to push the advantage to three. Bay answered, converting a two-point field goal with 5.6 seconds left. Amherst didn't have to inbound the ball and they secured the one-point win.
Caldera led all scorers with 18 points, while Morgan Lymer added 9 points for the Comets.
Amherst returns to action on Tuesday, November 25th, when they travel to Keystone.
