Girls Basketball with Home Win Over Elyria

Girls Basketball picks up a home victory Wednesday night, defeating Elyria 55–30 behind a strong defensive effort and balanced scoring throughout the lineup.
The Comets set the tone early, taking control in the opening quarter and building a 15–14 advantage. Amherst continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, outscoring Elyria and extending the lead to 35–23 at the half.
After the break, Amherst maintained its momentum, limiting Elyria’s offensive opportunities while continuing to find scoring chances. The Comets led 43–30 after three quarters and closed out the game in the fourth to secure the 25-point win.
Amherst was led offensively by Amalee Caldera and Callie Beckler, who each scored 12 points, while Abby Broaddus added 11 points. Elyria was paced by Alexis Luckey with 12 points.
The Comets will return to action on the road at Avon on Saturday, January 10.
