Girls Bowling Has Strong Performance at Bruin Classic

Girls bowling team delivered a strong overall performance Sunday at the Padua Bruin Classic, earning the No. 1 seed heading into match play with a team total of 2,985.
Amherst was paced by an outstanding individual effort from Isabell Mendosa, who rolled games of 209, 182, and 214 for a 605 series to finish first overall in the tournament. Peyton Zakrajsek also placed among the top finishers, posting a 537 series with games of 193, 180, and 164 to earn fifth overall.
Kiara Taylor contributed a 460 series with games of 161, 156, and 143, while Sophia Chapman added a 428 series after rolling games of 118, 177, and 133. Haydn Beischlag rounded out the individual scoring for the Comets with a 412 series, highlighted by a 162 in her final game.
The Comets continued their momentum in the baker portion of the event, posting games of 190, 202, and 151 to maintain the top overall seed entering match play.
In the quarterfinal round, Amherst was matched up against Solon. The Comets opened the series with a 187–132 victory in Game 1, but Solon responded with a 151–133 win in Game 2 and closed out the match with a 180–169 victory in Game 3. Amherst fell 2–1 in the quarterfinals, closing the tournament after a strong day of competition.
