Girls Cross Country Competes at the Wooster  Invitational

The Girls Cross Country team had a strong showing at the Wooster  Invitational Saturday, finishing 6th of 20 teams.

Amherst was lead by the freshman trio of Lola Schaaf (21st), Lila Woskobunik (26th), and Samantha Falbo (32nd) Senior Nyah Jesko was next in 40th place,  with Juniors Liana Del Valle (46th), Aubrey Brenot (48th), and Rosalie Kapalin (68th), Freshman Maddy Merthe (75th), and Senior Alaina Alflen (100th), all racing for the Lady Comet Varsity Saturday.

The JV Comets also had a strong showing at Wooster. Sophomores Julia Fossie (10th place) and Clara Stewart (21st) along with Freshman Grace Naro (23rd) all finished in the top 25 to lead Amherst.  Gemma DelMonico (40th) and Rebecca George (41st) were next for Amherst, with Kaitlyn Meyer (61st),  Clara Durica (77th), CeCe Magers (102nd), Abbey Barry (119th), Violet O’Brien (121st), Audrey Ilcisko (129th),  Leah Ilcisko (143rd), Chloe Haun (181st), Maddy Kapalin (188th) ,Mia DelMonico (195th),  Olivia Biro (200th),  Katlyn Sauvey (218th), Corrinn Kinser (234th), and Ashley Owen (250th)all racing for the JV Comets Saturday

Runner of the week was freshman Samantha Falbo, who nearly broke 20 minutes in just her 3rd high school race.

The Lady Comets, now with a record of 50-13, compete again in two weeks at the Norwalk Invitational.
