Girls Cross Country Finishes 3rd at SWC Championships

The Amherst Girls Cross Country team finished a close 3rd in the SWC Championships Saturday.

The Comets were lead by the 1st team All-SWC performance of freshman Lila Woskobunik, who finished 7th overall.  Earning 2nd Team All-SWC recognition were freshman Lola Schaaf (11th) and Samantha Falbo (14th), along with senior Nyah Jesko (16th). Juniors Aubrey Brenot (23rd), Liana Del Valle (25th), and Rosalie Kapalin (26th) also ran for the Comets.

The Comet JV finished 2nd in the SWC Meet Saturday. Earning podium recognition for the JV were Julia Fossie (7th), Maddie Merthe (8th), Alaina Alflen (9th), Grace Naro (11th), Gemma DelMonico (12th), Clara Stewart (14th), Kaitlyn Meyer (15th), and Rebecca George (16th).

Finishing for Amherst in the JV SWC meet were Violet O’Brien (18th), Clara Durica (19th), CeCe Magers (20th),  Nora Lauer (21st), Audrey Ilcisko (27th),  Abbey Barry (28th), Mia DelMonico (29th), Leah Ilcisko (30th), Sophia Nicoletti (33rd), Layla Camera (34th), Chloe Haun (37th), Macey Johnson (38th), Corrinn Kinser (40th),  Sauvey (44th), and Maddy Kapalin (48th).

The Comets return to action next Saturday at LCCC for the District Championships. The girl’s race is at 1:30 PM.
