Girls Soccer Beats Madison Comprehensive 2-0

On a beautiful night for soccer the host Amherst Lady Comets would entertain the visiting Mansfield Madison Rams and finish with a solid 2-0 victory to get back to winning ways.

The Comets would make their intent known early and often as just six minutes into the match Julyiet Harden would lace a shot from 25 yards that the Madison keeper would make a diving save to keep it out.

Wave after wave of attack would follow seeing Isabelle McGee, Paige Miller, Sienna Rebman, Alaina Alflen and Bella Zagar all with dangerous looks that would be saved or blocked from close range and we'd remain deadlocked at 0-0 at the half.

The second half was more of the same with the Madison keeper making some great saves and incredible defending from Madison until Isabelle McGee had seen enough and turned her defender in the eighteen before unleashing a shot into the roof of the net for the first score of the match.

Within minutes another Comet corner kick would see Paige Miller drive a ball into Grace Bruewer who would outmuscle her defender and find the net for a commanding 2-0 lead.

Madison would not go down without a fight as they had a couple of late breakaways and Hadyn Beischlag was called into duty with a fantastic diving save to preserve the shutout.

The Lady Comets improve to 8-2 and 2-1 in SWC play. They return to action on Wednesday night as they host the visiting Elyria Pioneers for Senior Night.
