Amherst Steele (2-0) 4
Wadsworth (0-1) 1

The Lady Comets would play host at the Amherst Soccer Complex and come away with a big 4-1 win over a very tough Wadsworth Grizzly squad.

The early game would be back and forth as both teams were poking and prodding into the attacking thirds until Jillian Markowich would unleash from 25 yards out that the Wadsworth goalie made a great save on but it would show the Amherst intent at breaking the deadlock.

Their repeated forays would finally payoff when Julyiet Harden would play in Sienna Rebman as our two freshmen would unlock the Grizzly net for an early 1-0 lead.

The game would go back and forth again with both midfields trying to exercise dominance until Isabelle McGee would hit a banger from 20 yards that found upper ninety and the lead would balloon to 2-0.  Right before the half a Grizzly defender would make a tremendous sliding save off a for sure Bella Zagar goal to keep the Comet lead at 2-0 heading into the break.

The Comets were not content to sit on the lead and early in the second half a Paige Miller free kick would find the head of Sienna Rebman, who would do the rest to put the Comets up 3-0.

However, once again, Wadsworth would show their mettle and claw a goal back to cut the lead to 3-1 before Paige Miller would go in full flight only to be dragged down in the box and Isabelle McGee would slot the PK for the final scoreline of 4-1.

Haydn Beischlag would go the distance in goal with five saves in sloppy conditions.  Tremendous defending would come from Grace Bruewer, Ashley Ciura, Emelyn Lowery, Olivia Janosik and Haley Boyles. The midfield of Isabelle McGee, Jillian Markowich, Gabbie Vasquez and Julyiet Harden controlled the pace throughout allowing the wingers to make their presence felt.

The Comets improve to 2-0 on the young season and return to action against long time foe Westlake at Burneson Middle School with an early 11am match on Saturday August 23rd.
