The Amherst Comets played host to the visiting Twinsburg Tigers in a big match with two state ranked opponents.  Twinsburg came in ranked #3 in Ohio D2 while the Comets would be ranked #5 and this had all the makings of a great game.

The first half saw Twinsburg pin the Comets back for most of the half as Amherst had to deal with what seemed like endless corner kicks.  The much taller Twinsburg squad made it payoff with a scrum off a corner kick and would lead 1-0.

The Lady Comets answered that goal very quickly as Issi McGee would go route one to Sienna Rebman who would slot past an onrushing keeper and we'd be level again at 1-1.

Another corner kick and another scrum in front of the net would see Twinsburg get a foot on it and send it past a mass of bodies for a 2-1 lead going into the half.

Just seconds into the second half a major miscommunication error allowed Twinsburg to toe poke a ball past Haydn Beischlag and a 3-1 advantage.

With just under twenty minutes left in the contest Jillian Markowich would be scythed down inside the box and Issi McGee would step up and calmly slot the pk home to cut the lead to 3-2.  Soon after Bella Zagar would play in Sienna Rebman who would narrowly miss equalizing the game just off the post.

Comet fortunes would take a major hit as a second yellow card would be issued to a player. The Comets would be forced to finish a man down.  The Comets would have three excellent chances late but they would all be off target and the clock ran out of time for Amherst to complete the comeback.  It would end Twinsburg-3, Amherst-2.

Twinsburg is now ranked #4 in Ohio in D2 while the Comets fall to #8 in Ohio with the loss.  Amherst is now 7-1 and 2-0 in SWC play and return to action Wednesday night in a crucial conference showdown at Olmsted Falls.
