The Amherst Lady Comets would celebrate our wonderful twelve seniors and their families with a big 5-0 win in SWC play over the visiting Elyria Pioneers.
Senior night is always a special night and we'd find our field of seniors probing through and around the Pioneer defense for the better part of the first half but, the Elyira keeper and defense would step up with one big save and block after another until the 18 minute mark left in the half. Paige Miller would play in a corner kick that Sienna Rebman would deposit into the net for a 1-0 Comet lead and allow Paige Miller to tie the all time assist record in school history with 41.
Just minutes later Paige Miller would break the record as she came around the left edge and slotted a ball across the six yard line to find Sienna Rebman again for Sienna's second goal and Paige second assist for magic number 42.
Minutes later Paige Miller would get on the scoreline as she put in a ball that got redirected in for a 3-0 halftime lead.
The second half would again see our seniors with the run of play and again, the Elyria goalkeeper would be outstanding to keep the Comets at bay until the 18 minute mark again when Paige Miller would see another slotted ball redirected in for a 4-0 lead.
At just inside of eleven minutes, Issi McGee would turn around the right edge and slot a ball across that would find a streaking Paige Miller for her third goal to go with two assists on a very productive night.
With just under five minutes left all our seniors would depart the field together to a rousing ovation from family and friends alike.
Haydn Beischlag would turn over goalkeeping duties to Alex Sixbey for their fifth clean sheet on the season.
Katie, Alaina, Grace, Haydn, Paige, Issi, Lilly, Kayla, Haley, Emily, Gabby and Addyson, we all thank you for your leadership and a great four year run.
The Comets improve to 9-2 and 3-1 in SWC play sitting in 2nd place in conference action and will return Saturday evening as they travel to Brunswick.
