The Shoregals hosted the Steele Sisterhood on their new tennis courts.  Amherst made it an evening they will not soon forget, breaking a losing streak against the team that goes back as far as recent memory allows.
Avon Lake took care of business with clinical wins at both double positions, but it was the singles trio of Kayla Bussard, Sienna Nagy, and Emma Timko that proved to be too much to take down.  Kayla handled her business with a 6-0 6-2 win.  Emma fought off a late surge in the first set but claimed it 6-4, followed by a smoother 2nd set win 6-1.
The story, 2 matches in a row, was at 2nd Singles.  Sienna struggled with consistency out of the gate and her opponent made her pay often, taking the first set 6-2.  The 2nd set was a much more tightly contested affair, with both players breaking serve often until Sienna finally held and broke her opponent one final time to win 7-5.  The 3rd set ultimately went to the mental fortitude of the Amherst Freshman Phenom, holding serve and breaking Avon Lake twice in a row to take a spacious 5-1 lead.  Avon Lake was able to hold and break back to get the match to 5-3, but Sienna closed out the final game by breaking Avon Lake's serve, taking the set 6-3 and the 3rd deciding match.
The girls could barely hold their jubilance as they stormed the court to celebrate with Sienna, who received Player of the Match honors for the 2nd time in as many events.
There is no rest for the ladies, as they travel to Strongsville to face a deep Mustang squad.
