Hockey Picks Up Big GCHSHL Win over Rocky River

Hockey earned a hard-fought road victory on Friday night, defeating Rocky River 2–1 at the Rocky River Rec Center in a Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League Red Division matchup.
Rocky River scored just 35 seconds into the game when Nolan Toole found the net, assisted by Jackson Rood and Cash Kohler, to take an early 1–0 lead. From that point on, Amherst’s defense locked in, holding the Pirates scoreless over the remaining 44:25 of play.
The Comets answered later in the first period as Kylan Losiewicz tied the game at the 4:05 mark, finishing a play set up by Noah Riley. Amherst took the lead for good midway through the second period when Fisher Sims scored at 9:06, with assists from Vinny Kelley and Deakin Kelley.
Anthony Schubert anchored the effort in goal for Amherst, turning aside 37 shots to preserve the one-goal victory. Rocky River goaltender Jackson Greear recorded 14 saves in a strong outing.
With the win, Amherst improved to 10–8 overall and 3–2 in GCHSHL Red Division play, while Rocky River slipped to 12–8–5 on the season and 3–2 in league action.
