Hockey Wins 3-2 in Overtime over Clay

Hockey rallied from a two-goal deficit and completed the comeback with a power-play goal in overtime to defeat Clay 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Toledo Ice House.
The contest marked the fourth meeting of the season between the two programs. Amherst captured the first matchup with a 3-2 win on November 14, while Clay responded with victories of 7-2 on December 6 and 8-4 on December 13.
Clay struck first midway through the opening period when Andrew Schrauder scored a power-play goal at the 7:45 mark. The Eagles extended their lead in the second period as Brady LaMay found the net at 11:20, finishing a play set up by Schrauder and Xander Kert to give Clay a 2-0 advantage.
Amherst responded in the third period and shifted the momentum with a power-play goal at 10:25. Fisher Sims put the Comets on the scoreboard, with assists from Mason Lamoreaux and Deakin Kelley. Just under five minutes later, Amherst pulled even when Vinny Kelley scored at the 5:37 mark off an assist from Sims, tying the game at 2-2.
The game remained tied through the remainder of regulation, sending the matchup into overtime. With the Comets again skating on the power play, Vinny Kelley delivered the game-winner at 3:31 of overtime to secure the 3-2 victory.
The win improved Amherst’s record to 11-8 on the season, while Clay fell to 19-6-2.
