Hockey Wins 7-1 to Move On In OHSAA Tournament

Hockey skated to a convincing 7-1 victory over Springboro on Sunday in an OHSAA Tournament matchup at Bowling Green State University’s Slater Family Ice Center.

Fisher Sims paced the Comets with four goals, opening the scoring late in the first period before adding three more across the final two frames. Noah Cheatham added a pair of goals, including a power-play tally and a short-handed marker in the second period, while Anthony Palumbo chipped in a power-play goal as Amherst broke the game open with five goals in the middle stanza.

Springboro’s lone goal came midway through the first period, but the Comets’ depth proved too much the rest of the way.

With the win, Amherst advances to face second-seeded Sylvania Northview on Saturday, February 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Bowling Green State University’s Slater Family Ice Center.
