Amherst Hockey completed a perfect weekend to win the Tim Alexander Tournament, finishing 3-0 with a dominant 7-0 victory over Holy Name. The championship win followed a 3-2 triumph over Clay on Friday and a 5-3 victory against Avon Lake on Saturday.
The Comets opened the scoring in the title game when Kylan Losiewicz found the net at 3:21 of the first period. Amherst then took control with a five-goal second period. Sebastian Smith scored twice at 11:45 and 10:20, both assisted by Deakin Kelley. Noah Cheatham added a power-play goal at 9:03 off passes from Noah Riley and Fisher Sims, and Grady Walsh extended the lead at 5:46 with Riley picking up his second assist. Cheatham struck again at 4:09, set up by Sims.
Fisher Sims capped the scoring in the third period with a goal at 12:02, assisted by Losiewicz. Goaltender Anthony Schubert turned away all 18 shots he faced to secure the shutout and help the Comets clinch the tournament title.
Amherst returns to the ice on Tuesday, November 25, when they host Rocky River at North Park Ice Arena for their home opener.
