JV Girls Soccer ties Clay

The junior Lady Comets played host to the visiting Oregon Clay Eagles from northwest Ohio on a bright and cool Saturday morning and ended in a 2-2 tie.

There would be end to end action in this one as neither team could find the breakthrough until Clay would finish off a PK as a result of a handball in the box and our Comets would find themselves trailing for the first time this year at 1-0. Fortunes would turn even worse for the Comets as a long lofted ball would find the net and a commanding 2-0 Clay lead.

Cici Defilippo would save her theatrics for late in this one as she hoisted the Comets on her shoulders . First she would get played in by Peityn Yandura and she'd give the Comets life as they clawed back to 2-1. Just minutes later Cici would again slalom through the Clay backline and the comeback would be complete at 2-2. The Comets would nearly get the game winner late but, in the end, both teams would share the spoils at 2-2.

Our junior Comets record is now 4-0-1 on the season and they return to action on Wednesday evening at home vs SWC foe Avon Lake.
