Ludwig Reaches Milestones in Win over Springfield

Boys Volleyball picked up a strong 3-1 victory over Holland Springfield on Friday (4/24/26), highlighted by a milestone performances from senior James Ludwig.

Ludwig etched his name into the record books, recording both his 1,000th career dig and 1,000th career serve receive in the win.

The Comets battled through a tightly contested opening set to take a 27-25 win before dropping set two, 26-24. Amherst responded with composure, securing the final two sets 25-20 and 25-19 to close out the match.

Ludwig and Gavin Beckler powered the offense with 20 kills each. Ludwig also added 5 aces, 19 digs, and 52 serve receives, while Beckler contributed 3 aces and 13 digs. Zac Boesken chipped in 11 digs defensively.

Amherst’s attack was efficiently directed by Joe Penano with 27 assists and Hector Mendez with 17 assists.
