Softball Beats Avon 5-0

Softball used a late offensive surge and another dominant performance in the circle to secure a 5-0 road win over Avon on Tuesday.

After five scoreless innings, the Comets broke through in the sixth. Leah Sprague sparked the rally with a single to right field, driving in Briana Blankenship and Sienna Rebman for a 2-0 lead. Makenna Dorobek followed with an RBI single to plate Sprague, and Kayla Rhodes added another run-scoring hit to extend the advantage to 4-0.

Amherst added an insurance run in the seventh when Sienna Rebman executed a sacrifice bunt to bring home Lexi Fenton, pushing the lead to 5-0.

Karina Shuster continued her strong season in the circle, striking out 10 while allowing just two hits and no walks in a complete-game shutout.
