Softball Hits 6 Home Runs in Doubleheader

Softball bounced back in game two on Saturday with a dominant 12-0 run-rule victory over Circleville in six innings. The Comets powered their way to the win with four home runs while Karina Shuster earned the victory in the circle, striking out eight.
Amherst broke through in the third inning when Briana Blankenship scored on a wild pitch to give the Comets a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Makenna Dorobek delivered a two-run double, scoring Sienna Rebman and Leah Sprague to extend the advantage to 3-0.
The Comets erupted offensively in the fifth inning. Leah Sprague launched a two-run home run to score Rebman and make it 5-0. Kayla Rhodes followed with a two-run single that brought home Karina Shuster and Dorobek for a 7-0 lead. Gloria Caserta then added a two-run homer, scoring Rhodes and pushing the lead to 9-0.
Amherst continued the power surge in the sixth inning as Dorobek homered to score Samantha Pearch, making it 11-0. Shuster followed immediately with a solo home run in back-to-back fashion to cap the scoring at 12-0.
Earlier in the day, Amherst dropped game one 7-5 to host Central Crossing. Sienna Rebman and Samantha Pearch each homered in the loss.
