Softball Picks Up Home Win Over Avon Lake

Softball put together a dominant performance at home Wednesday, earning a 13-1 victory over Avon Lake.
The Comets wasted no time taking control, exploding for a 10-run first inning behind timely hitting and power at the plate. Amherst launched three home runs in the game.
Sienna Rebman got things started with a two-run home run to score Brianna Blankenship, giving the Comets a 2-1 lead. Morgan Lymer followed a couple batters later with an RBI single to plate Leah Sprague, and Gloria Caserta added a two-run blast to extend the lead to 6-1. Blankenship doubled home Lexi Fenton, Rebman tripled to bring in Blankenship, and Sprague and Karina Shuster each drove in runs to cap the 10-run frame.
The Comets added to its lead in the fourth inning when Kayla Rhodes crushed a three-run home run, scoring Dorobek and Lymer to make it 13-1.
In the circle, Karina Shuster was in control, striking out eight over five innings to earn the win.
