After falling behind early, Softball showed resilience on the road, rallying past Olmsted Falls for a 10-6 victory.
The Comets trailed 2-0 before chipping away in the second inning, as Kayla Rhodes delivered a sacrifice fly to score Makenna Dorobek and cut the deficit in half. Amherst then broke through with a four-run third inning, highlighted by RBI efforts from Sienna Rebman, Leah Sprague, and Karina Shuster to take a 4-2 lead.
Olmsted Falls answered to make it 4-3, but the Comets continued to apply pressure. In the fifth, Sprague sparked the offense again with an RBI triple and later scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 6-3.
Amherst created separation in the sixth with a four-run inning. Briana Blankenship drove in two runs with a single, Sprague reached base to plate another, and Rebman added a run on a passed ball to push the advantage to 10-3.
Olmsted Falls made one final push, scoring three runs in the sixth and putting the first two runners on in the seventh. However, Karina Shuster shut the door, striking out the side to secure the win.
Leah Sprague earned the victory in the circle, tossing the first four innings, while Shuster closed out the final three innings to seal the comeback effort.
