Softball Wins 8-2 over Olmsted Falls

After falling behind early, Softball erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to power past Olmsted Falls 8-2 on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs struck first with two runs in the top of the second inning before the Comets answered in a big way in the fourth. Kayla Rhodes started the rally with a solo home run to cut the deficit to 2-1. Hailey Cleaver followed with an RBI double to score Samantha Pearch and tie the game at 2-2.
Briana Blankenship then reached base to bring home Cleaver and give Amherst the lead. Sienna Rebman added another run-scoring play before Leah Sprague singled home Rebman to make it 5-2. Karina Shuster capped the inning with a two-run double that scored Sprague and Makenna Dorobek, extending the lead to 7-2.
Amherst added one more run in the fifth when Cleaver grounded out to score Rhodes.
Shuster earned the win in the circle, striking out 13 over seven innings as the Comets secured the 8-2 victory.
