Swimming Competes in Meet at Margaretta

Amherst swimming competed on the road today at Margaretta High School, highlighted by multiple individual and relay victories for both the girls and boys teams. Despite the effort, Margaretta claimed the overall team wins, with the Polar Bears taking the boys meet 88–68 and the girls meet 92–71.

For the Amherst girls, event winners included the 200 Medley Relay team of Sophie Millard, Bridget Sonntag, Erin Reitzel, and Abbey McConihe. Sonntag added first-place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle, while Reitzel swept the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly. McConihe earned the victory in the 100 Freestyle, and the team of McConihe, Reitzel, Millard, and Sonntag capped the night with a win in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

On the boys side, Amherst opened with a win in the 200 Medley Relay behind Colin Reitzel, Ethan Fantozz, Declan Mackowski, and Reed Homolya. Homolya later touched first in the 200 Freestyle, while Reitzel added victories in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Mackowski sprinted to wins in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly, and Fantozz secured wins in both the 100 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle.
