Wrestling Finishes Runner-Up at Hoban Invitational

Wrestling delivered a strong team performance on Saturday, finishing as the runner-up at the Hoban Invitational at Hoban High School in a competitive 29-team field.

The Comets produced seven individual placers on the day, led by heavyweight Javiaun Bush, who earned a second-place finish at 285 pounds. Devin Juristy placed third at 113 pounds, while Chase Chandler followed with a third-place showing at 120 pounds. Mathew Vidovich added a fourth-place finish at 144 pounds, and Ali Younes secured third place at 165 pounds. Isaac Vasquez finished fifth at 175 pounds, and Jordan Hatfield rounded out the placers with a fourth-place result at 190 pounds.

In addition to the team success, Chase Chandler and Mathew Vidovich each reached a personal milestone during the invitational by recording the 100th win of their high school careers.

Amherst returns to the mat on Thursday for Senior Night against Midview. Senior recognition is set for 6:15 p.m., with the match scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
