Wrestling Wins at North Ridgeville

Wrestling picked up a road victory Thursday night, rolling past North Ridgeville 69-9 in a dual meet at North Ridgeville High School.

The Comets controlled the match from start to finish, earning bonus points in the majority of contested bouts while also capitalizing on several forfeits to quickly build a lead.

After North Ridgeville opened the night with a pin at 106 pounds, Amherst responded with a flurry of falls and technical falls. Devin Juristy secured a pin in just 32 seconds at 113 pounds, followed by Chase Chandler’s fall 52 seconds into the 120-pound bout. Trae Thompson added a 19-3 technical fall at 126 pounds, and Cristian Nieves picked up a forfeit at 132 to extend the Comets’ advantage.

Amherst continued to pile on points in the middle weights. Canin Fritz earned a 16-1 technical fall at 138 pounds, Mathew Vidovich collected a forfeit at 144, and Gabe Shumney recorded a fall at 157 pounds. Ali Younes followed with a 16-1 technical fall at 165, and Isaac Vasquez closed out the contested matches with a pin at 175.

The Comets sealed the win with forfeits at 190, 215, and 285 pounds, as Landon Reott, Jordan Hatfield, and Javiaun Bush were all credited with victories.
